EICR’S (Electrical Installation Condition Reports)
Ensuring Safety
and Compliance
As NIC EIC Approved Contractors, we are qualified and insured to carry out the testing and inspecting of Domestic, Commercial, and Industrial Installations. Often called a period inspection and test, an EICR is the reporting of an existing installation to confirm that it is safe and suitable for its continued use. EICRs have two results – Satisfactory and Unsatisfactory. An Unsatisfactory report will have a list of remedial actions that will be required to correct before the property is deemed safe for continued use.
Ensuring Longevity
and Compliance
As we all age, so do electrical installations. The recommended time between tests varies from 1 year up to 10 years depending on its intended usage. Commercial unit owners and some other industries like Educational facilities, Swimming pools, and Shops, to name a few, fall under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and formal arrangements are required for maintenance and interim routine checks. Landlords are also required to maintain and have their properties tested every 1-5 years or upon a change of occupancy.
Ensuring Home Safety:
Importance Of Electrical Inspections
And Testing
In the UK, according to statistics from Electrical Safety First – England, there are approximately 19,300 accidental fires of electrical origin each year. A significant portion of this figure comprises electrical fires in dwellings, totaling 14,186 incidents, which represent 53.4% of all accidental house fires.
Whether you’re a homeowner or in the market for a new property, it’s essential to consider the status of the electrical installation. When was the last time it was inspected and tested? Ensuring regular inspections not only promotes longevity and safety but also provides peace of mind that everything is in order. Much like scheduling a routine boiler service, having your property tested is recommended every 10 years, recognizing that buildings and their electrical systems age over time.
We offer a range of Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) tailored to homeowners’ needs. From basic inspections covering circuit testing and accessory checks to comprehensive assessments delving into all aspects of the installation, we ensure thorough scrutiny. Our meticulous inspections verify the integrity of connections, proper earthing of metal fittings, and the safety of consumer units. While addressing any remedial actions highlighted in the report is not mandatory for homeowners, the responsibility for maintaining property safety rests squarely on their shoulders. Don’t leave it to chance—prioritize your peace of mind by scheduling a property test today!
Commercial EICR’s
Are you a commercial landlord or tenant of a business unit? In most cases, the individual responsible for maintaining property electrical safety must arrange for electrical installation inspections and testing at least every 5 years. This requirement is not only mandated by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 but is also often stipulated by insurance companies.
Arranging and conducting commercial inspection and testing can be challenging, particularly when businesses operate with minimal downtime. At DKing Electrical Ltd, we tailor our EICRs to minimize disruption to business hours. We offer flexible scheduling options such as out-of-hours work or testing limitations, as per the owner’s preferences.

Landlord EICR’s
Are you a landlord responsible for rental properties? It’s essential to prioritize the safety of your tenants by ensuring regular inspection and testing of the electrical installations. Under regulations such as the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020, landlords are obligated to have Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) conducted at least every 5 years, or more frequently if recommended by the inspector.
Arranging for EICRs can be a logistical challenge, especially with tenants in residence. At DKing Electrical Ltd, we understand the importance of minimizing disruption to tenants’ lives. We offer flexible scheduling options, including appointments during convenient times or coordination with tenant turnover periods.
In addition to EICRs, we provide tailored maintenance packages for landlords to ensure ongoing electrical safety and compliance. What Our Clients Say
Dan fitted three illuminated bathroom mirrors for us. We had no exciting wiring or fittings. He did a really clean job and went out of his way to do as little damage to the plasterboard as possible. In the end we only had about half an inch around one light switch to fill, which was way less than I was expecting. Really happy with everything, definitely recommend Dan for any electrical works!
